2 Thessalonians 2:5-8 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

1.  Jesus is coming
2.  The church is leaving
3.  So focus on the truth you have been taught
4.  And focus on the faithfulness of God

Verse 5 – Paul invested some time in teaching them these things:

1 Thessalonians 3:1-4, that they would have tribulation
John 15:20, that the world would hate you
John 16:1, don’t be offended

It’s a tough road, but it’s the right road!

WHAT WITHHOLDETH…HE WHO NOW LETTETH…HE BE TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY

No Biblical evidence that this is a reference to the Holy Spirit.
Seems to refer to the body of Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

Verse 8 – This is the emphasis of the passage: the Lord will consume/destroy that Wicked (cf. Isaiah 30:27-33).  Instead of fearing the antichrist, we should fear the Lord (Matthew 10:28).
