2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Even if the KJV capitalized the pronouns referring to deity (there are good reasons why it doesn’t), the antichrist here would get a little “h.”  As we study this man of sin, we must remember that according to verse 8, he is a defeated one.

Contrasting Christ & antichrist:

·         Son of God (John 1:34) / son of perdition (2 Thessalonians 2:3)
·         Came in the name of the Father (John 5:43) / comes in his own name
·         Mystery of godliness (1 Timothy 3:16) / mystery of iniquity (2 Thessalonians 2:7)
·         The true vine (John 15:1) / the vine of the earth
·         Came to seek and save that which was lost (Luke 19:10) / come to destroy (Luke 9:56)
·         Came to the will of His Father (John 6:38) / come to do his own will (Daniel 11:16)
·         The way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6) / promoter of a lie (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10)
·         Set down at the right hand of the Majesty on high (Hebrews 1:3) / cast into a lake of fire (Revelation 19:20)

Comparing Christ & antichrist:

·         Both come in the fullness of time (Galatians 4:5; 2 Thessalonians 3-8)
·         Jesus’ ministry lasted 3.5 years / antichrist rules for 3.5 years (Revelation 13:5)
·         Both work signs, wonders, and miracles (John 3:2; 2 Thessalonians 2:9)
·         Both are kings (Revelation 19:16; Daniel 8:23)
·         Both bring peace (Isaiah 9:6-7; Daniel 8:25)
·         Both are objects of worship (Matthew 2:11; Revelation 13:8)
·         Both die and rise again (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Revelation 13:3)

The working of satan:

·         He is wiley (Ephesians 6:10-13)
·         He is a tempter (1 Thessalonians 3:5)
·         He is an accuser (Revelation 12:10)
·         He is a provoker (1 Chronicles 21:1)
·         He is a resister (Zechariah 3:1)
·         He is a deceiver (Revelation 20:10)
·         He is a hinderer (1 Thessalonians 2:18)
·         He is a liar (John 8:44)
·         He is a binder (Luke 8:29)
·         He is a sifter (Luke 22:31)

The antichrist…Christ is greater:

·         His power (Daniel 8:23; Revelation 13:1-2; Matthew 28:18)
·         His intellect (Ezekiel 28:3; 1 Corinthians 2:16)
·         His speech (Daniel 7:8; 1 Corinthians 2:4)
·         His authority (Daniel 7:21-22; 11:36-37; John 5:27)
·         His deeds (2 Thessalonians 2:9; Psalm 105:1)
·         His prominence (Daniel 8; Proverbs 10:22)
·         His persuasion (2 Thessalonians 2:10; 2 Corinthians 5:11)
