Empty Heart – 10.30.07

Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. (Psalm 62:8)

So…not only should our hearts be preserved, and purposed, and prepared, and fixed, and united, and clean, and upright…our hearts should also be EMPTY.

What a blessing it is to have a God Who knows our hearts better than we do, Who knows our thoughts better than we do, Who knows our needs better than we do, and Who cares about us to an extent we can't even imagine! What a blessing it is that a God Who has all power to provide whatever comfort or strength or courage we need, AND is interested in doing so! What a blessing that because of Jesus Christ, we have an open invitation to appear before God's throne where He deals out His grace and His mercy.

When you're troubled, when you're confused, when you're discouraged, when you're disheartened, when you need direction, when you need a friend, when you're weary…take it to Jesus! When you're tempted, when you're tested, when you're tried, when you're enticed…take it to Jesus! When you're happy, when you're rejoicing, when everything's going great, when you're blessed…praise His Name!

- Some scriptures regarding an empty heart…

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (1 Peter 5:7)

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22)

- Some hymns about an empty heart…

Does Jesus Care (289)

O yes, He cares – I know He cares! His heart is touched with my grief; when the days are weary, the long nights dreary, I know my Savior cares.

Tell It To Jesus (347)

Are you weary, are you heavy hearted? Are you grieving over joys departed?

Do the tears flow down your cheeks unbidden? Have you sins that to men's eyes are hidden?

Do you fear the gathering clouds of sorrow? Are you anxious what shall be tomorrow?

Are you troubled at the thought of dying? For Christ's coming kingdom are you sighing?

Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus, He is a friend that's well know. You've no other such a friend or brother, tell it to Jesus alone.

Leave It There (353)

Leave it there, leave it there. Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out – Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

What A Friend We Have In Jesus (354)

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bare, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged – take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness – take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge – take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer. In His arms He'll take and shield thee – thou wilt find a solace there.

Take care and trust in Him!
